Why do we put up with corporate bullshit?

We have the power to make our companies succeed. Why do we allow our companies to shoot themselves in the foot? Office Space, now 15 years old, is funny because it points out the obvious stupidity we endure, but why don't we fix it? When our executives or board of directors or  Mr. Yadda-Yadda-Important-Title tells us all to jump off a cliff, why do we get in line?

The mistakes companies make are obvious, why couldn't Blackberry see their obsolescence running at them? Why didn't the entire staff stand up and say, "No, you idiots, we will not allow you to destroy our company and our jobs."?

It baffles me every time a company "fails" and has to do a round of layoffs. Why did the employees allow it to happen? Is the system so broken that there is more benefit to letting your company crumble than to keeping it from falling in the first place?

The truth is that we have all been conditioned to accept our fate. There are some great TED talks on the origins of public education. (Go watch it now, seriously, it is the best thing on education you will see all week.) We have been schooled to accept our fate and not question what we perceive to be authority. The naked truth is that this is all a fabrication and we are the ones responsible for success.

Success is yours control to control.
